The GEDSI Study Center team from UNU Yogyakarta attended the Going Global Partnerships event organized by the British Council in Malang on May 16, 2024. The event carried the theme “Global Accessibility Awareness Day: Exploring GEDSI in Higher Education — A Workshop and Implementation Case Study”.
In addition to UNU Yogyakarta, the workshop was attended by several other universities from the UK and Indonesia that were grantees of the British Council’s UK-Indonesia Disability Inclusion Partnerships Grant program.
UNU Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol, UK, is one of the grantees of this program for 2024 under the theme “Developing Inclusive Policies and Practices for Greater Accessibility in Higher Education”.
During the event, participants shared insights and learned about inclusive practices in higher education, including a visit to the Center for Disability Services (PSLD) at Universitas Brawijaya. The visit involved discussions and direct observation of services provided for students with disabilities.
Another key activity was a workshop session aimed at fostering collaboration among universities. Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) pledged to share disaster education modules designed for youth with disabilities and to contribute disaster-related knowledge to UNU Yogyakarta’s faculty and students.
